Giving Thanks

As I get older I find myself reflecting back more and more  on my childhood. I feel I was very lucky to have the parents that I have. Whenever I think of growing up I am overwhelmed with how much love they poured on my sisters and me and how selfless they were with that love.I think about the traditions we have as a family such as wearing matching new pajamas on Christmas Eve, always having an intimate family Thanksgiving, and making and decorating Christmas cookies. As the holidays seemingly become more and more commercial and  consumerist I'm happy to think back on all the holidays we've spent together as a family and be overwhelmed with a feeling of love.

As I approach the age  where I will begin to seriously consider having a family of my own, I'm excited to continue some of my family's traditions while also starting our own. I know no matter how I celebrate the holidays, I will always make sure they are filled with love and affection.

I am thankful for the continuous love and support from my family. We have certainly seen our fair share of challenges, hardships, and tests but we have never turned our backs on each other, if anything, it has made us stronger. I am thankful that I have never questioned whether or not I am loved, I know I will always be loved and cares for, no matter what.

I am thankful for my loving boyfriend who is truly my best friend. I am lucky enough to have a man who is good hearted, strong willed, and honest (and handsome to boot).  I am thankful to be right where I am, surrounded by good friends and great love. I am thankful for the mistakes I have made, the chances I have taken, and the  people (good and bad) I have met, because they have all led me to the life I am living now.

I certainly spend my fair share of time worrying, stressing, and disliking my life, but I am glad to have a day dedicated to family, love, and recognizing all the good in life.

This Thanksgiving  I hope you are able to spend it with loved ones, reflecting on all the good in your life an all the random acts that brought you together with the people around your table and in your life. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
