One Week Vegetarian
Yesterday, my boyfriend suggested that we go vegetarian for a week. We both have been feeling sluggish and unhappy with our food choices. It's not that we eat poorly all the time, but eating meat certainly allows us to make poorer choices with food. Going vegetarian for a week is our way to reset our bodies and focus on getting plenty of fruits and vegetables. We both have made the mistake of making meat the center (and sometimes the only thing) in our meals, so starting Monday (yesterday) we decided to skip the meat.
I'm using this week as a way to make more conscious decisions about what I put in my body. Because I can't just grab, order, or make the first thing that sounds yummy (because usually it's something with meat) I'm using the extra time to think about not just NOT eating meat, but also staying away from highly processed foods. I found myself making different decisions on Monday then I would have made if I weren't avoiding meat. It's day two and I'm already craving meat: this might be a hard week, but I'm excited!
Are you a vegetarian? Have you ever tried going vegetarian? Any tips, thoughts, or recipes?
